Recent Progress

Ongoing UK–Brazil project meetings and coordinated technical progress

The UK and Brazil groups have continued to hold regular project meetings to coordinate research activities and review progress across modelling, experimentation, and future dissemination plans.

On the UK side, progress has been made in numerical simulation of tensor direction mapping for wind turbine blades, with current work focusing on the representation of anisotropic directions on curved blade geometries.

On the Brazil side, a series of preliminary experiments and simulations has been carried out on existing wind turbine blades, providing an initial basis for subsequent validation and comparative analysis.

Participation in ECNDT 2026 in Verona on 15 June

The project team participated in the European Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (ECNDT 2026) in Verona on 15 June 2026. The conference provided an opportunity to present recent research progress, exchange ideas with the wider NDT community, and strengthen international academic engagement.

Two papers accepted for publication

Two project-related papers have recently been accepted, marking an important dissemination milestone for the collaboration:

  • Lift-off Trajectory Analysis for Eddy Current Detection of Millimetre-Scale Cracks in Curved Geometries
  • EPH-iFNO: Self-Evolving Physics-Attention Heads with Fourier Neural Operators for Virtual-Wave Inversion

These accepted papers reflect recent advances in curved-geometry eddy current inspection and physics-informed operator learning for inversion problems.
